ULTRACRACK L275
RAF DALTON
The contractor New Looks Oxon were undertaking major works to one of the hangars at RAF Dalton, including a complete repainting of the concrete floor.
The Need:
The joint filler between the concrete slabs had sunk so they wanted to replace them with a product which was very durable to withstand heavy traffic from military vehicles. It also needed to be flexible to allow for expansion and contraction between the concrete slabs. As the hanger was used for vehicle maintenance there were flammable materials stored there so a hot applied filler was not an option.
Solution:
Meon was able to offer UltraCrack L275, a cold applied MMA joint filling product with high adhesion and flexibility once cured. The application process is simple with a resin and powder component which mix together and is then applied into the joint using a hand mould. This product is very durable and also offers a certain level of anti-slip once cured so there is no risk of slipping, especially when it gets wet.
Summary:
New Looks Oxen were able to provide RAF Dalton with a well revitalised hangar. The hangar has been back in use since February and so far there are no defects in the joints thanks to the durable, impact resistant material standing up to heavy military vehicles passing over.
