FRESH FLOOR COATING APPLICATION
FACILITY MAINTENANCE
ABOUT
BEHIND THE SCENES:
When internal surface markings need to be repainted, there is usually the need for it to be a quick, cost-effective job which is why the most critical factor of the whole process often gets missed, the surface preparation.
THE CHALLENGE:
RAF Dalton have dedicated a large hangar for storing and maintaining vehicles. The entire surface was coated, but it had worn down to an extent where it needed repainting. Meon was contacted to provide a long lasting, cost- effective solution which could be delivered within a short time period.
Image: Previous lines were well worn with very little colour with most of the original paint peeled off.
Image: Clearing down the area, prior to grinding the surface.
Image: The area was ground back using a floor grinder to produce a consistent floor ready for the surface paint.

SOLUTION:
Meon applied test patches to one area to find a method that would guarantee the best outcome. In this area there were some thermoplastic lines to remove and then the surface to prepare. A GrindLazer DC87 G was used with wire brushes, which cleanly removed the lines and provided a clean surface with an excellent ‘key’ for the product to be applied on. FloorCote W440 was then applied, which resulted in a smart new surface with very high adhesion when tested, which proves it would stand up to the constant wear and tear of traffic for a long time.
The entire hangar was subsequently repainted with this method.
