Wednesday the 7th of June, 2023
The Meon team was delighted to be back attending the LGTAG (Local Government Technical Advisers Group) Conference 2023, held at the beautiful Sandown Park Racecourse in Esher, Surrey.
LGTAG is a professional association that supports technical service officers working for the public sector, or privately, providing services to local authorities.
The conference provides a chance to share ideas and strategies to ensure best practice is shared, advice is given to national and local politicians for innovation and the conference offers a chance to share and learn from technical advice.
The LGTAG organisation is shared across regions and includes specialist groups and committees covering all the main technical service disciplines.
Meon were looking forward to such a great opportunity to showcase our services and share our expertise, along with Project Highways Zero, our campaign designed to lead the way to net zero carbon, within the highways industry.
As line marking and surface repair specialists, we were pleased to showcase our innovative cold lay and MMA solutions, designed to assist with the journey to net zero, for professionals within the public sectors and local authorities.
The conference focus for this year from new President Amanda Richards: People, the Key Highway Asset โ Find them, train them, keep them.
Setup
Our journey began early Wednesday morning, the Meon team set off from our main office in Portsmouth ready for a busy day conversing with many public sector and local authority professionals.
Once arriving at the Sandown Park Racecourse, the team began setup of our informative stand, containing our technical documents, campaign brochures and some extra freebies.
The team were looking forward to networking with other professionals at the event, build new relationships, provide advice and valuable exchange knowledge.
The Event
During the day there were some great thought-provoking discussions from key influential speakers, including Richard Holden MP, Minister for Roads and Local Transport around the benefits of increasing diversity within the sector, including; How to change the image of the Highways Industry to demonstrate to students from an early age that it is an industry with significant opportunities for training and advancement, along with how to provide training and growth opportunities for existing staff to keep them motivated, skilled and wanting to stay in the industry.
We are incredibly grateful for everyone who spoke to the Meon team, each conversation brought valuable insight into challenges faced within the public sectors and local authorities, and how we can evolve our business to provide value.
We are always happy to provide specialist advice and product recommendations and we hope it was clear to anyone who spoke to the team that at Meon, we take pride in delivering great surfaces and we are passionate about our line marking and surface repair solutions.
