Meon's National Pothole Day Challenge 8 Month Review

Meon's National Pothole Day Challenge 8 Month Review

On the 15th of January it was National Pothole Day, and as the team at Meon is committed to delivering great surfaces across the UK and Ireland, we set ourselves a challenge of how many potholes we can fix using cold lay products.

A statement from BBC News last year reported, "The number of potholes filled in by councils in England and Wales has increased during the past year to almost 1.7 million, a survey suggests." We contacted ODS within Oxford City to see if they would be up for the challenge and how many potholes we could fix within one day using our cold lay permanent repair systems.

We decided to go back and look at what the potholes look like 8 months on. The Meon team's products on this day were our PatchMaster H576 pothole repair product, Bituseal Aerosol edge sealer, UltraCrack L275 MMA flexible Joint and crack repair kit, and ThermaBand R171 Preformed Thermoplastic overbanding tape.

Modern potholes are caused by wear and tear, which brings a mixture of elements which forms our potholes: rain, sun and repeated travel by vehicles across the roads. It was national established in 2015 and was created to provide for the local public to report road damage to their local authority. To report your road defects, log on to fixmystreet.com and enter all the details your local council will need.
