PermaFyx FRequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Everything you need to know about using PermaFyx.

What is PermaFyx and how does it work?

PermaFyx are a range of cold applied, Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) based, permanent surface repair solutions.

These solutions are cold applied and require zero compaction, eliminating the need for hot works and compaction equipment during the repair process.

PermaFyx is not reliant on mass, its strength is gained through the cross links formed during chemical reaction.

What types of surfaces can PermaFyx be used on?

PermaFyx is perfect for very high stress areas.

Typically we encourage PermaFyx as the perfect non-compaction surface coarse for Ironwork Reinstatement, but clients have usedPermaFyx for surface patching and pothole repair successfully.

What are the different PermaFyx kits avilable?

PermaFyx is available in a range of grades and colours, including asphalt, HRA and concrete.

How long does PermaFyx take to cure?

PermaFyx takes approximately 2 minutes to mix up and cures through a chemical bond to go solid within 30 minutes and ready to open to traffic, making the system an ideal solution for reactive repairs where the area can only be closed for a minimal amount of time.

Is PermaFyx safe and easy to apply?

Unlike other cold applied products, PermaFyx eliminates the need for compaction equipment, allowing for greater versatility in application, even in hard-to-reach areas.

The kit-form reduces manual handling requirements and lowers the risk of hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), promoting safer working conditions.

Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) has lower health risks than epoxies as they don't contain isocyanates, unlike epoxies and polyurethanes. However, MMAs do produce a strong, unpleasant smell during use.

Ensure adequate ventilation, wear proper PPE, and follow the guidlines on our safety data sheet to minimise health risks.
