Multi-Storey Car Park Cold-Applied Line Markings: A 5-Year Durability Review
2021: The Challenge
When Hi-Way Services undertook the delivery of a new multi-storey car park line marking project, they required a professional system that would cater to various needs.
The project involved marking disabled spaces, parent and child bays, reserved bays, and electric charging bays, all of which needed clear colour-coding for safety and compliance.
The primary challenge was ensuring that these markings would remain durable and visible over time, resisting wear from constant traffic and environmental factors.

The Cold-Applied Solution
Meon reccomended a collection of cold-applied line marking solutions designed for longevity and performance. The recommendation included using UniPrime L257, an MMA primer, to prepare the concrete surface, ensuring excellent adhesion for the subsequent coatings.
For the main markings, UltraGrip L240 was applied, offering high durability and skid resistance. To address the colour-coded bays, MultiGrip W248 was used, delivering vibrant and long-lasting colours, while MultiGrip X440 was employed in areas requiring enhanced grip and visibility.
These products were selected based on their proven track record in similar settings, offering resistance to abrasion, chemicals, and UV exposure, which are essential for multi-storey car parks where markings must withstand heavy use and varying conditions.

Cold-Applied Line Marking: 5 Years On!
The chosen line marking solutions have yielded outstanding results. Five years after installation, the line markings show mimimal signs of defect, maintaining a majority of their clarity, colour integrity, and functionality.
This durability has ensured that the car park remains safe, compliant, and easy to navigate, with all bays clearly identifiable for users.
The long-term success showcases how these cold-applied line marking solutions solved the client's pain point, providing a reliable and cost-effective marking system that endures over time, reducing maintenance needs and enhancing user experience.
