Cemar Dryer and MMA System Repair End-of-Life Concrete
The Challenge
Devon County Council faced significant challenges at one of their Recycling Centres, where concrete slabs were nearing the end of their service life and endured daily abuse from regular on-site roll on roll off bin movements. There was site wide damage to joints between bays and localised slab damage.
The council needed a reliable sealing solution that could be applied without the costly and disruptive removal of large concrete sections, all while ensuring environmental compliance and operational continuity.
The Solution
Meon recommended a tailored Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) joint sealant system designed for flexibility and high bond strength.
The solution included the UltraCrack flexible joint sealant, paired with the high performance concrete primer UniPrime to ensure optimal adhesion. Additionally, a concrete variety of PermaFyx was used for specific repairs.
A key component was the Cemar turbine dryer equipped with a custom crack nozzle, developed specifically for this project to enhance efficiency.
Principal contractors, Mac Plant Construction, received installation training from Meon and successfully applied the system using straightforward preparation methods, allowing for quick and effective implementation without major concrete removal.
The Results
The project was completed ahead of schedule, thanks to higher than expected application rates facilitated by the specialised Cemar dryer.
The repairs have proven durable, with the MMA PermaFyx repair and UltraCrack sealant effectively preventing surface water ingress and withstanding the harsh operational conditions, including the constant movement of roll on roll off bins.
The Client has been very satisfied with the performance, and the overall system has exceeded expectations, demonstrating robust performance in high wear zones.

UltraCrack L275 MMA Flexible Joint & Crack Repair
Magma UltraCrack L275 is a methyl-methacrylate (MMA) cold plastic product designed for crack infill and flexible joint repair.
UltraCrack L275 features high levels of adhesion, bonding to most substrates, as well as remaining flexible once cured.
It is exceptionally fast curing and reaches a rainproof time very quickly even at low temperatures.
